Please don't make jumping an important element of the game. In fact, leave out any jumping (or tightrope walking parts for that matter) entirely out of your game. All we want to do is run around and shoot bad guys. It adds nothing to the "experience" of the game - it usually derails the incessant fun of blowing people/mosters/stuff/etc. up.
Thank you |

Now if we were talking N64 days I would agree, Turok always drove me insane with its horrible jumping mechanics. Or even worse, the jumping in some of those old nintendo games would drive me insane, and if I was strong enough back then, I would have surely broke at least a few controllers.

| | | | i HATE how halo multiplayer boils down to "jump-mele" or "jump-sticky" or "jump-whatever." most people i know who play have switched to bumper-jumper because there's no way you'll win without pogo sticking all over the place.

There are some people who will just walk around blindly shooting, others who insist on camping and being lame... but I like to have fun with the game.
I often finding myself getting very involved in the game, sneaking around into the other teams areas as if I am on an actual mission. If you take the sniper route, you can set up a general area to pick people off, protect yourself with claymores, etc... I find ways to have fun with it and make something more out of it than blindly shooting people.
My main point is that you can get what you want from certain games, though there are limitations to every game. Personally, after growing up on Counterstrike, by the age of 12 I got used to all the cheapness and annoying tendencies that comes up in an online gaming world, so you learn to become jaded towards those people.
Side Note: I used to consider myself a pretty good Halo online player, but I tried playing Halo: Reach online at a friends house, and boy did I get my ass whooped. I wasn't used to the maps, but now with jetpacks and all that, it takes jumping in Halo to a whole new level.

| | THIS HAND OF MINE GLOWS WITH AN AWESOME POWER! | | Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: USA; Mitchellville, Maryland | | | I can't tell if RS is being sarcastic or not, lol. Practically none of the recent, big name FPSs have had much emphasis on jumping of any kind. The only one that comes to mind is Halo and frankly that's kind of old by today's standards, haha. I still dig it though.
Black Ops gave it a bit of a try with the dolphin diving (very cool feature once you get used to it) but it's not major. It'd be totally hilarious if everyone was compelled to do it everywhere but its used pretty rarely. I still think you should be able to unload on people in midair though. You can shoot people during a normal jump but not during a dolphin dive?
Anyway, like I was saying, jumping doesn't seem to be a major part of FPSs now at all. perhaps if this were in the days of old (i.e. last gen consoles) I might agreed with you because no one was going for the quasi-realistic angle it was just about good stupid fun and part of that was jumping around like and idiot, lol. TimeSplitters, Quake, Unreal Tournament, James Bond and a few others come to mind but you don't see games like that anymore which is kinda sad. Every shooter wants to be Gears of War or Call of Duty and it's starting to wear on me. Those games have their strong points but I've realized that I like games that embrace fantasy rather than attempt to imitate reality. That's why I really liked Vanquish. Sliding around a map with jet boots shooting crap in slo-mo? Hellz yeah.
Brink is looking kind of interesting though. It looks like it's trying to combine a traditional FPS with Mirror's Edge for a more interesting overall experience where you can have much more dynamic interactions with the world around you. Basically, it makes jumping not stupid, lol.

Please try creating a new game with some innovation, and maybe even levels that challenge the players, instead of just taking CoD or Halo and putting different characters in and not even bothering with creating a decent single player campaign because you know that you'll sell a million copies based on the multiplayer.
Thanks

please dont full my screen with HUD. ahem.. CoD black ops.
please make the single player mode interesting. world war 2 sucks. move on.
PLEASE make the multi-player/split screen section good instead of ignoring it to make the online play better. some of us HAVE real friends and only one system. we play in the same room.. you know.. like people used to.

In old-fashioned games, it's a crucial element, think all quakes and spinoffs especially.
I personally love this game, it's got lots of jumping and velocity: YouTube - First Contact - Warsow Frag Movie |

I play alot of COD (WaW is my favorite), and what I would like to see, especially for games like MW2 is a no snipers game mode. Also, a "10 seconds or less" mode where you just die if you dont move. These 2 would make the games SO much more fun.
BTW, I run around alot and NEVER camp and my K/D is 1.2
