"On his way to an arraignment at the Federal Courthouse in New York City, Captain America was shot in the right shoulder by a sniper's bullet. Several subsequent shots were fired point blank at Rogers by Sharon Carter, brainwashed by Dr. Faustus who was allied with the Red Skull. Sharon, unaware of her actions and concealed by the crowd during the shooting, escorted Rogers to the hospital while the Falcon and the Winter Soldier subdued the sniper, Crossbones (Brock Rumlow). Captain America was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital. Sharon's memory was restored by a keyword spoken by the Red Skull's daughter, Sin (Sinthia Shmidt)."
Who here is up to speed on this and what are your thoughts? Is Cap really dead?
I was raised on Marvel but don't really consider myself a reader, well, until recently. I saw this in the paper and told my son about it. He was asking all kinds of questions so I started researching it and got hooked on the story line.

Comics killed of Superman? Or when Bruce Wayne had his back broken and could no longer be Batman?.....Marketing ploys meant to generate sales and nothing more...
Remember when coca cola switched its formula? and then brought back Original coke?
By the way tere is a Captain America Movie in the works...expect a major comeback storyline soon!

He was about as dead as it's possible to be but they brought him back to life by invoking some kind of "proto-matter" activated by a "Genesis bomb" and few fans complained about such an obviously cheap plot device.
Captain America will be back.

His former sidekick, Bucky will become Captain America if he hasn't already.
At least that was my prediction something like a year ago when all of this happened.

Capt. America is stealing nazi weaponry? W.T.F.?

| | | | This the whole reason I stopped reading & buying comics. The business lost all continuity & character integrity.
It became all about sales & story gimmiks to sell comics without reguard to the characters themselves.
To me the downfall happened in the 90's marking it with the birth of Image Comics, multi foil covers and the Spiderman Clone saga- utter crap!!!!!
This the exact reason I fell in love with Anime & Manga- they dont typically pull this crap. Once a character is dead, he's dead. Once a story is over it's over. Stories & characters filled with tons of content and back stories that make them so real.
The writer/creator is also the artist. He stops, everything stops.
Anime & manga is so much better & so much further ahead of American comics. American comics are 25 -30 pages long with very little content for around $4.00?
Manga can be 200+ pages (black & white) and cost $10. a far netter value in my opinion.
The only comic worth a damm, to me of late, was Iron Fist, first series (second is just not as good)
Do yourself a favor a read Death Note or Full Metal Alchemist. To me Death Note has to be the coolest anime period, from ever camera angle to the characters. L is just brilliant as a character. The whole story is a "thinking" intelligent story. It drags on in places, but still, it great, in my opinion.
