Decision time...

My wife was offered a job in York, Maine today. It is not a remote position, so I would have to pack up the family and head east. My job is remote, so I can live anywhere within one hour of a major airport.

Exciting and scary. Scary that I have lived here for 20+ years now and have deep roots. Exciting to be back on the coast I came from.

I worry about my wife. She has never spent an entire winter in the northeast. Both times she has been to Maine, it was unseasonably warm.....mid 80's back in early April. Then again it was in the 90's a couple weeks ago.

My dad is from Maine, and I was born there (but never really lived there), and I love it up there. I've never been there in the winter (thank goodness), and I hear they are brutal. The rest of the year is perfect though.

I'm not sure I could live there though. The cold and lack of city-life would kill me I think.

My main issue is that you'd have to drive pretty far to catch a football game.

Tough call brother. Not too far off from the call I made just over a year ago to move out this way.
16 months later, I have yet to regret anything related to that decision.
If I had an exciting opportunity to move again, unless it was to somewhere like Marquette, I would likely jump on that boat.
Good luck with that decision .

That is one of the major things I was taking into consideration, but my wife don't care.

100 miles from Foxboro. Not too bad, but I bet it is on a nasty snowy Sunday morning.

I'm only about 90 minutes from Boston, which would be most awesome. Go Pens!!!!

Still too far from you and a game of TECMO.

Alright, we decided. We're going to move to the York/Portsmouth area in August.

Time to get the house ready to sale or rent and find a nice new crib to move to.

Thanks fellas. I am starting to get really nervous. I have lived in the same five mile radius for the last 25 plus years.

Oooooo the Great Northeast Kingdom!!!!. I've only been as far north as dutch country in PA (which is not the NE Kingdom) but I know it's beautiful up there.

EDIT: I guess Maine's not part of the NEK but I bet it is still beautiful up there.
