I somehow stumbled upon information about the murals at Denver International Airport and I find myself asking, what's up with these things. Bizarre. check this page out http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/so..._photogall.htm

Who knows. We do some weird **** out here!! Did you catch the ugly big blue horse out by the entry road? Hate that thing. It's creepy with its light-up red eyes. Plus it's a little too anatomically correct IMO - showing off his junk for all who drive by.

I've been through DIA a number of times. The art isn't going to be to everyone's taste, but I like the idea of some interesting pieces in public spaces like that rather than the typical airport combo of blank walls and ads.

What I hate is the location--that stupid airport is so far outside the city, it's ridiculous!

This one reminds me of Miles Davis Bitches Brew album cover.

Maybe it is just the colors?

The dude with the AK and the sword is pretty scary, I wouldn't want that in my airport. Everyone's just trying to jive with nice Vancouver's is.

Duh, everyone in Colorado knows that DIA can be converted into a prison/concentration camp at a moments notice. Supposedly there are underground tunnels that lead to Washington DC.

If you look closely at mural #6 you'll notice that everyone that has darker skin is looking away from the center while all the white kid's line of sight points right to the center of the little arayan boy dressed in the nazi uniform.

Oh yeah, and the guy who made the mustang was actually killed when it fell on him before it was finished.

Scare the children. That way you won't be pissed when the flight comes in late and is overcrowded. Public art. Yuck.

The Vancouver International Airport is one of eight Canadian Airports that have U.S. border preclearance facilities.

Vancouver International Airport's interior has a uniquely B.C. theme, featuring one of the most extensive collections of North West Coast Native art in the world, and blues and greens to reflect the colours of the land, sea and sky. The airport uses a great deal of carpet and vast expanses of glass to let in large amounts of natural light. One of the most noticeable pieces in an arriving passenger's trip is the International arrivals hall, a large area where customs and immigration procedures are completed. Arriving passengers come down escalators leading to a platform across a large waterfall. The YVR aboriginal art collection includes wooden sculptures and totem poles. Bill Reid's sculpture in bronze, "The Spirit of Haida Gwaii, The Jade Canoe", is displayed in the international departures area."

I'm from PA, and now live in CO. I've been to Denver's and Philadelphia's airports more than a few times. I'll take the murals along with everything else DIA has to offer (all of which is clean).

Philadelphia's airport is a SLUM in comparison, with nothing that even vaguely resembles art. I hate it there more than one can imagine... And I'll be there again on Tuesday.. And again on the following Sunday.

I agree with you on all this. Not to mention the ever-present delays in getting out of Philly. What do they have, one departing runway?

Looks like great art by a great artist.

one question though, was the statement "New World Order Celebration Begins" actually a part of the piece or is this merely an interpretation of yours of the piece?

I'm looking closely and I don't see everyone of a certain skin color looking one way or the other, and I don't see a Nazi uniform.

Hah, I just noticed that. It's not part of the picture in the link.

That is true, DIA is very clean.
