I'll be arriving in Detroit this coming Wednesday evening. I fly out Saturday around noon. I'm hoping to catch a Tigers game on Friday night. If any locals want to meet up for a beverage or meal, let me know.

I also plan on stopping by the Henry Ford museum.

I am staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on Smith Road by the airport. What is that area like?

The Airport area is a great area for strip clubs (I hear) but really not much else. Ann Arbor, Royal Oak, and Birmingham have the best nightlife around Detroit. You should give us more notice and we can hang, I'm meeting Kjung to record a Thunderfunk for his demo room today.

Also don't wear a Cindy Jersey in Detroit, people have been beaten to a bloody pulp for far less.

I don't have a Crosby jersey, but I do have a Gill jersey. I'm going to wear my Pens hat today, and the jersey to the Tigers game tomorrow night.

Made it to the Tigers game tonight. Against.....Pittsburgh!! Very cool.

We were sitting about 10 rows back just to the left of home plate. The people who took me are Detroit area natives who have been going to Wings, Pistons, Lions, and Tigers games their whole lives. They are in their 50's now. In the fourth inning, they take me down by the field to say hi to an usher they know. I'm standing there chatting it up with the guy between innings in my Pengiuns hat when we start talking hockey. This crusty looking guy comes over and starts BSing me about Crosby and Malkin. I was just about to tell him to shut up and get lost when my friends tell me who he is......

It was Chris Chelios, he is friends with the couple who brought me to the game. My friend texted him to come down and start harassing me about the Pens because he knew how fired up I would get. Chris is a waaaaayyyyyy cool guy. After the game, he invites us to his chili bar, Cheli's. A live band was playing which was cool. So we go in and hang out for over two hours talking about hockey, chili, Pennsylvania, baklava, Chicago blues music, Malibu, and other topics. He shared some insights into hockey that were new to me, and then gave me some really cool observations about pretty much the entire Pens roster. In the end, he told me to stop by next I am in Detroit and he'd meet me for lunch. To top it off, he said he would take me to a game at Joe Louis next season. I had to promise no Pens gear at the Joe, which I agreed to.

This ranks right up there with one of the coolest experiences of my life.
