Diagnoses

My mother was just diagnosed with 4th degree ppc cancer. She just came out of a big surgery where they removed as much as possible and I was reading up on it. It is very scary stuff which is uncureable and has a short life expectancy.

I would like to ask if any of you would keep her in your prayers throughout rough chemotherapy and other treatments. I'll admit, I am primarilly a double bassist but the lack of foot traffic on that side drove me to post here. I hope I am not breaking any rules... I just would like to spread the word a little bit and have some people join me in praying for all of the victims of the disease.

I'm sending good thoughts your way. Hope things get better. My Grandma is going through something very similar and though she's older and you know.. it's kind of expected and not the same thing, I can relate. She was like a mom to me growing up.
I ope she gets better soon.

She'll be in my thoughts and prayers. My g/f's mother just found out she has stage 3 lung cancer.

I just was told about the diagnoses this afternoon... I'll be okay, just worried as anybody would be. She found out she had the bracket 1 gene a while ago and in 2008 was cured of breast cancer. According to the doctor, there is an 80% chance that chemotherapy will work effectively which can stop the cancer from spreading and neutralize it for years to come. But then there's that other 20%... luckily, we are pretty close to some great cancer centers and are starting to look into places like Roswell (hope I'm spelling that right) for treatment.

Do you have family to help? That's what I'm getting at.

Yes, I have my father (who is also in poor health, in need of a liver transplant) and my brother.

Are you in the same area as Mom? Is your Brother?

Yeah, we all live in Erie and we have a lot of family in surrounding counties.

Good. Let's hope things work well and you won't need to draw upon your family resources. You mentioned chemotherapy, but not radiation and I'm wondering if that's because a full plan is not in place or perhaps radiation is not required.

I think we will probobly visit the doctors at Roswell cancer center to get a second opinion and look at our options. I have only read up on the cancer minimally because there is not much information on it on the web and from what I understand it is different in curing then ovarion cancer.

Hey guys, I know it's been a while so I thought I would give an update. My mom is doing pretty well, her last chemotherapy scheduled is Thursday and her cancer has gone down to a almost normal level. She is treated at Roswell in buffalo. During her first treatment months ago there was a scare because she had an allergic reaction to some of the steroids they use but that problem was solved and there haven't been any problems since. Thanks for all of the support.

My prayers and thoughts go out to your mom. I am battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma right now and I know the deal with cancer treatment. Fortunately mine is really curable and I will beat it but I know other people with worse cancers that are harder to treat and they have a harder path. I am glad to hear she is doing well.

I have been a medic for 16 years and had never heard of PPC, I had to google it. I'm glad to know she is doing better.
