Did i make a slight error?

Thought id post here stead of in amps,
Well after christmas i bought an Ashdown MAG EVOII 300 combo,
which i am extremely happy with and really love the sound i can get out of it.

However it has been bugging me for a while that maybe i should have possibly spent an extra 100, and have gotten the EVOII 300 Head, and the 1x15 Cab they sell, instead of getting the combo.

Would this have made much difference portability wise compared to the combo or not? Also any other differences i would have found with getting a head and cab stead of a combo?

The previous amp i had was my first one which was a Marshall MB30 so ive never dealt with having a cab and seperate head set up.

Just thought id ask as finally getting to the stage where i could well be lugging my gear around to practices and possibly a gig or two up at the university from september.

I cannot stand combo amps at all. I'd rather carry my 4U rack in one trip then my cab(s) in a 2nd trip. Debating whether it's an "error" or not isn't something we can answer... only you can. If the combo doesn't bother you and works for your gigs, then who cares?
Also, this DOES belong in amps.

I bought a combo last year after playing nothing but a head/cab setup since I started playing. (it's been a while)

I love my combo. It weighs a little better than 50lbs, which is a little more than half of what my 410 cab weighs. A combo does make setup and tear down easier, but may limit the speaker configuration you may want. That's really the only downside IME.

Don't second guess yourself. Play the crap outta your combo!

Thought id play it safe where to place this ,
Yeah the combo doesnt bother me, its heavy weight wise, but this is a minor concern as im fine with it, and we have good cheap taxis where im staying for transport

Either way i pretty much would have ended up with the same configuration, 1x15 Speaker and the same head unit.

Speaker configuration wise it does have a plug on the back so i can use a second cabinet with it, which would help on bigger gigs if i ever had the need im guessing, Still new to the whole seperate cab and head thing so only know a bit about extension cabs
