Digital Camera Question

Sign in to disble this ad
My ol' lady just bought a Canon 8 megapixel camera. It came with a 4 GB card.
My question is: Is 4 GB a lot? Does this size card hold a bunch of pics?

Is a lot, generally a 4GB card will hold pretty much a thousand pics of the camera's highests resolution ones

If we could use images for signature, this would be mine.

Its the biggest SD card you can buy, until you get into SDHC cards which have a maximum of 2 terabytes.

I have a 4gig for my 10 megapixel camera and I've never had to buy another one for extra storage.

4gb will hold plenty (more than enough pics). If your camera does video, video takes can take up more space on the card than pics.

I suggest copying pics to your computer on a regular basis because usually the card reader is a fairly slow device. I copy by date range and leave the pics on the card as a backup. I empty the card about every 3 months or so. Obviously, this depends on how many pics you take during a time period.

Actually, when you turn your camera on there should be a rather large number somewhere on the viewing screen. That would be the number of pictures you can hold.
