Can anyone guide me as regards a decent digital camera for under $200? Looking for good pic quality (of course) HD, if possible, Stabilization, takes good pics in less than ideal light situations. Or as close to that as you can get. Want to take good pictures of my equipment (and a bunch of other stuff) for security (insurance) purposes. And for fun as well.

For snap and go Nikon has some decent stuff that can be had for cheap, but you'll usually be giving up either quality or zooming capabilities. For something more legit I'd save up $500-$700 and get a Canon Rebel XS or similar. My girlfriend uses one and her photos are fantastic. It also helps that she has an eye for that sort of thing, too |

Those are the two companies I'd look at for point and shoots.

I've got a high-end Nikon, and a Canon SD1100 IS.

Bought my mom an SD200 way back in the day, I have an SD600, and inherited another that a friend dumped in beer. I dried it out and keep it in my car just in case. Bought my brother an SD1100IS. Recommended a neighbor a similar model and they all love them.
Canon's warranties are great too, mine's been in the shop because I got sand in the lens mechanism (entirely my fault, fixed free of charge) and the cameras take a beating and still shoot great photos.
I primarily shoot with a Canon DSLR, but it's a lot easier to keep the SD in my pocket.
Though I will admit, that my iPhone 4 has begun to take it's place in my pocket, but I'm sure you don't want a camera that comes with a contract.

Under recommendations of friends, i bought a Fujifilm F200 EXR.
In my opinion, and with the limitations of being a compact camera, i'm very satisfied.
In particular, it has a mode which is very effective when using for taking shoots from stages, by night (obviously without the flash).
