Direct deposit versus paychecks

What is your opinion of each method of payment, and which do you prefer? I have the option at my job to do direct deposit, and since I'm at school and use a local bank from back home, that might be the easier route.

I prefer direct deposit. Unfortunately, that is not an option for me.

Direct deposit rocks.

Some banks give you additional services, benefits, or discounts if you use DD.

Yup. Like free checking and such.

Most importantly you can now sick call on pay day and not worry about having to wait for funds when you return.

Direct deposit. In fact, I was supremely annoyed working at a place that was still in the stone age and made me go to the bank.

Direct deposit. It means I get my money 1 day earlier.

Direct deposit = instant $$, usually even before payday! I see very little downside.

I never understand when one of my guys/gals chooses NOT to have direct deposit. Always there, 99.9% of the time always right (there is a rare glitch than can happen every once in a while) and as stated above, usually available in the wee morning hours on payday.

A couple of employees even set up a direct deposit for a part of their paycheck (one guy uses 85% DD) and then they get a hard check for the balance .... they like to hide money from their SO's ... . Other guys have a portion of the check distributed into savings and a portion to checking.

Do it, you won't regret it ...

DD. Saves you an extra trip to deposit your money. We actually get our money faster than people cashing their checks.

I can only see one reason why you wouldn't want to use direct deposit - there's a super-hot teller that wears mini-skirts and low-cut blouses at your local branch.

You should see my branch at the Teacher's Credit Union. Chock full of sexy asian chicks. My wife is wondering why I never use the ATM machine anymore.

Direct deposit is the way to go. I have seen one instance where direct deposit did get screwed up (not mine thank goodness, but it did affect everyone on DD), but that's one instance in the last 11 years.
