Post any DIY related projects you've done, or are in the process of working on.

To start, i just made this headphone cable tonight. Still waiting on the tip connectors from sennheiser.
Canare star quad cable, techflex, neutrik jack. Techflex is a pain in the ass to deal with, not sure i'll use it on future applications. Although it does look very nice aesthetically.

Very nice work! I love DIY projects, because I'm usually forced to do everything myself and I enjoy doing it,lol. I'll try and get some pics together of my DIY projects. -Luke

I just finished putting in the new countertop, sink and tile backsplash. The backsplash isn't pictured here.

C'mon there has to be more DIY stuff going on here. My latest project... An output transformer-less tube amplifier. It is just a headphone amp. Some kinks to still work out, but enjoying the process. My first amp build, and i can tell, it wont be my last.

The case it will sit in

Sweet! Please post the finished product. Low-power tube amps are awesome.

I removed the center bezel in my Dodge Ram so as to fab a piece of plastic for the aftermarket stereo. To me, it looks bad to have an opening with round corners from the factory HU followed by a bracket with square corners, then the HU. When done, it will be a rectangle opening, then I'll cover it in 3M DI-NOC carbon fiber vinyl.

Here is a pic with the clear plastic in place. The blue tape is the opening for my stereo. I will bond the clear plastic to the bezel with JB Weld, cut out the opening with a Dremel, put some bondo on top to smooth out the transitions, scuff up the entire surface with sandpaper, apply some adhesion promoter, then the DI-NOC.

In the project below, first pic is stock. Second pic is tinted using a product called Nightshades from VHT. Third pic is color matched to the factory paint. I also pulled apart my headlights and color matched the insides to match the rest of the truck. Before the color match, the interior of the headlights was all chrome. I also tinted the reflector.

Next up is some projectors and HID's, which will be ordered as soon as I finish the bezel project.

Front Panel Express, in Seattle. They have a free CAD app, it's dead simple to do and they are really quick on turnaround too.

The case is a stock item from Modu in Italy, but next time I'll probably just have FPE do that too since they are more or less local to me, although Modu will do machining and etching as well.

I have been really wanting to do a concrete countertop in the last few days. It seems like a fun challenge and they look AMAZING.

Linas, did you use some kind of tutorial/walk-trough/guide? If so could you share? I'd like to build myself a headphone amp this summer once finals are over.

I was reading a few articles on how to do it and it seems very doable. You can even dye the cement to get your desired colour. I am going to do them for sure when I have my own place. Looks better than granite and costs pennies a linear foot, if you do it yourself.

We're going to do cement counters in our bathrooms this summer. We wanted cement floors, but the weight was too much and the cost to brace up our floor made it totally not worth it.

Let us know how it turns out. I saw some really cool ones for bathrooms where they poured the sink right with the countertop and it looked very nice. Cement floors can look just as nice if you can support the weight. Ever thought of pouring the floor separately and only a half inch thick, then cutting it up and laying it like tile? That way you could do a really cool cut pattern and it wouldn't be heavier than stone tile.

We went with cork on the floors when the cement idea blew up. However, we did pour a nice big cement patio, so we kinds sorta still got our cement floors.

waiting on a whole lot of jacks (should be in soon), and i have a lot of cabling, so there is much soldering in my future.

question: does anyone use shrink wrap on their cables? i have a heat gun, so itd be cheap, but i dont know if itll be more durable. opinions appreciated.
