I am happy that this man lived to see his name cleared. He is going to get $1.75 million because Florida law gives a person $50,000 for each year of wrongful conviction. I hope his lawyers connect him to a good financial planner so he doesn't lose all of his money.

Most folks in that situation say they are not bitter. When you think about, he would be dead by now, or he would have committed some other crime in prison that would have kept him there for life in he had become bitter. Forgiveness is really about personal survival. Any benefit to the guilty is often incidental.

I just hope they offer some counseling and financial planning because this man has never really lived as an adult on his own.

Although I'm not religious myself; it is nice to see that he never lost his faith. I imagine prison is a very different experience when you know you are innocent. Faith is what brought him through that. Faith that justice would be eventually be served is probably what kept him alive and kept him from committing that crime behind bars that locked him up for life.
Congrats to Mr. Bain. I wish him nothing but the best. |

Though, I agree he is entitled much more than Congratulations.

lowsound | Oh whoops. I thought Icon was being sarcastic. I laughed because I figured he wouldn't want to waste anymore time in his life (not saying that college is a waste of time) just saying that's all. [/backpedal] |

am inclined to agree.
