Is there anyone else here who seems to always get mistaken by strangers as being someone they know? No matter how I keep my hair(which had always been short until a bit over a year ago) or in what manner I keep my facial hair I seem to get people telling me how familiar I look to them.

The strangest was about 3 years ago when I went to a small local venue and watched a band called Crankbox. The lead singer and bassist came up to me and called me by name and asked me how I was doing. I went along for a moment, though I was very confused, until they asked me what I was doing down there. Apparently there was a music journalist in Cincinatti who is my double. I even had wierd facial hair at this time...I called it my Sno-man-chu. Yeah...it looked really bad too.

I get this several times every year. Anyone else experience this on a regular basis?

No, but I've had people that I've met several times come up to me and say "Hi, my name is [their name], what's yours?"

I regularly get told by complete strangers in work that I look like either Prince or Phil Lynott, depending on the length of my hair.

Yes. In the town where I live nowadays there's a well-known guitarist/songwriter/producer/you name it, and I have a few times been mistaken as him. "Janne, is that you?". I agree, we do look quite similar and have a pretty similar haircut, but he is about 5-7 years older than me. Actually this is a bit strange, because people always guess I'm 24 when I'm actually 29. He is around 35... I know him a little since we both visit a certain jazz club regularly. I work there once in a while, he's an honorary member of it.

Also, once I was told by a complete stranger in town (at a festival) that I looked exactly like the guy starring the Spiderman movie that came out a few years back...

Hi.

Yes, several times a year. Don't know why?

I was taking some music classes at a community college near Aurora, Illinois, and lots of people kept calling me Jeff and asking me how the drums were coming along, which is odd because that's not my name and I play the bass not the drums, I mentioned it to one of the guys in my Black Sabbath tribute band and he said it's probably because I looked like the drummer of the Aurora based heavy metal group Trouble who had connections to some of the musicians at the college. I've never seen the guy so I don't know if we look alike or not.
