To run some speakers I have I want a cable that goes something like this:
male 1/8" stereo -> female 1/8" stereo
-> female 1/4" left (mono)
-> female 1/4" right (mono)
Do I need a custom cable?

You do not need a custom cable, you just need a 1/8" stereo to mono split Y cable. Hosa makes one. It's also super easy to DIY from a stereo 1/8" cable and a couple of mono 1/8" jacks. |

I have a male stereo 1/8" cable going to a full stereo system and two male 1/4" going to left and right speakers individually and to run everything together and still be able to pan between the left and right I need to get everything running through this cable I have in mind. The only other solution would be to run it through my interface but that would be a little annoying because every time I hook all my stuff up I'd have to go through the process of telling my computer to use the firewire port as the audio driver unless there's some sort of script to have it done automatically when the interface is detected.

male 1/8" stereo -> female 1/8" stereo
-> female 1/4" stereo
quick question though. If you have a stereo cable that splits off to two mono signals is one the right and the other left or are they both stereo mixed to mono?

As far as what you're trying to do, you could grab a stereo splitter and daisy chain that to a 3.5mm to 1/4" cable (stereo, or split mono).

I personally have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-Ster.../dp/B000MDJU06

One male to twin female 1/8" -> Your 1/8" output
|
v 1/8" to 1/4" adapter
|
v
One male stereo to split mono 1/4"
Although, it has to be the same signal level all around. You will need more than a cable if you carry the signal, for example, to headphones on one side and to an amplifier on the other.
