Do I need MS DOS for this?

First let me say that I'm pretty computer illiterate.
OK, I was thinking about trying to download and old Microprose game I used to play; just to feel nostalgic.

Actually I'd prefer the updated version of the game,
F-117 Stealth Fighter 2

It is a relatively old game; do I need DOS to run it.
Currently running Windows XP. I've seen people bring up DOS like screens on this CPU before. Is that the same?

I wasn't sure, so I downloaded it to play around.
If you launch F117.com, the game will run fine
