I take it that you've never been in a band before?

In my experiences, the bass player seems to be the guy who tries to get everyone to get along and fix problems at a gig.

From talking to other musicians, their biggest complaint about bassists is that they can't get them to commit or stick to a gig. The reason is that good bassist can find plenty of gigs, and they exercise their options. If a gig sucks, there's another that they can find.

In my experience the guitards are the whiniest, followed closely be keys.

Vocalists should be the top of that list, but i dare say the OP said what other musicians

Guitarists do generally seem to complain more.

I was thinking of a specific guitarist / vocalist, so I'll agree on that count.

All musicians are guilty of being whiners/complainers sometimes. Maybe since singers have mics they can be more "vocal".

Singers are probably the worst.

Nobody complains more the lead vocalist...and if you try complain more than him, he'll complain about that too.

Yeah, singers seem to whine the most....perhaps that's a big part of why my band doesn't have one!

I think most bassists do their fair share of whining, but we definitely earn it considering our role is often defined by guitarists AND everyone and their #%#$^ cousin thinks the bass is an easy version of guitar and can do it well.
