DO YOU BELIEVE IN KARMA OR "NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED"

Sign in to disble this ad
so i guess that this is sort of like a major metal thread, sorry.

this is what happened.

i was out for my morning walk the other day, minding my own business when i saw an envelope on the ground. i said "what the hell" and picked it up. it was one of those kind that you get at the bank when they give you cash. no name on it or any identifying marks. i opend it up and there was 600.00 in it. 220.00 in cash and the rest in a check made out to "cash" from a local driving range/ batting cage. i think it was some kid's paycheck that he just dropped.
now there was no second guessing in my mind, as there was a verifiable addy that i could return this check/cash too, so i double enveloped it, put it in a padded mailer and sent it back to the place with a note that explained the situation and please return this to whoever lost it.
i dont expect a reward or anything. i just did what was right, but do you guys and gals believe in karma or does "no good deed go unpunished"? just curious

I don't know about karma or no good deed goes unpunished, but you did the right thing. Although I would have taken it right to the address.

Karma only seems to work for me when I do something naughty. It always seems to come back and smack me in the butt. Or maybe that's just my conscience?
At any rate, you did the right thing, good job. I would have done the same.

My karma ran over my dogma...

Ya done good, Dave. I'd have taken it in person, but I understand your situation. I would likely call the person and ask if they lost it, then laugh maniacally as I told them that their funds were all I needed to complete my takeover of Wachovia Bank, though! If you remember the kid's name and addy, look him up and call him to let him know to watch his mail, and that there are still one or two good people left in the world. You did enclose a coupon good for 10% off a cd, right? Gotta drive business, you know...

I strongly believe that one who creates good/positive energy with his actions and thoughts, will be rewarded in other situations with good/positive energy..

Call it karma or what you want, everything is made out of energy in this universe, as well are all living things and human beings, so there is for sure some logical way of how the energy works and how it affects us.

Good move man. One time in italy i found an envelope at the airport with 4 thou, cash, unmarked, and turned it in. I guess I was half motivated by the image of a mother unable to buy medicine for her child and half motived by not wanting a knock on the door form the police or mafia looking for drug money. Even though i prob just bought the cop i gave it to a new vespa, it still feels good to do the right thing.

ok, back down off the cross...

A very classy move. Chances are that you saved someone from a big financial problem.

That's one good deed which I predict will not be punished!

good deeds go unpunished so long as you dont stick your foot in your mouth...

the only other thing you could have done was do a craigs list add, and weed thru the phoney-balogna's till you found the rightful owner.

I would've done the same. I'd be mad if someone stole my paycheck cash.

oh no, there was never an issue of keeping it. if it had been all cash with no identification, thats one thing but since there was a corporate check in the same envelope, the only thing to do was return the thing. thanks for everyones input.

Your world is what you make it.

You just made your world better. Well done.

I can honestly say a year ago, if I was getting 3 bucks in change back at Jack in the Box and the girl accidentally gave me two 1 dollar bills and one 5 instead of three 1 dollar bills, I woulda taken it.

Now (when it happened couple weeks ago) I told her so she wouldn't get in trouble.

And I can honestly say I'm happier at this time in my life than last year.

Your world IS what you make it, so make it good.

I'd do the same no doubt.

But I don't believe in karma or else. I've seen bad people do bad things whom still have a smile on their faces where as the victims suffer all their lives.

This world is long forgotten by God,its a chaos, you do a good thing and you may get punished, you do a bad thing and you may be rewarded. You just never know.

I don't believe in anything except the easter bunny.

But you did the right thing, it's nice to know some humans still inhabit this rock.

Back when Yankees could travel in the middle east w/o fear of abduction & beheading, my father flew for a charter airline. On a trip in Saudi Arabia, he bought something at an outdoor bazaar. When the seller accidently gave back twice the right amount in change, my dad suggested the seller count again. Looking borderline offended(likely thinking my dad was trying to rip him off), he counted again, missing his mistake a second time. My dad insisted on bringing the discepancy to the man's attention. The seller thanked my dad profusely, adding that he had connections, & that if he needed help w/anything(he said he didn't care if he killed somebody )to let him know.
On topic, I don't call it kharma, but I believe in the effect. Like waves in a pond, there going to hit something, bounce off & come back in one form or another. BTW, I hope everyone reading this has a nice day.

It stands to reason that anyone who would have pocketed the money would have a messed up personality and would eventually (or quickly) make a move that would bring him (or her) bad fortune -- thus karma.
