Do you bring a camera when you go out?

Sign in to disble this ad
I very rarely carry any kind of camera with me, but now with summer party season in full swing I feel that pics might help when sharing stories of some of the more crazy antics that I get to witness. I just feel like I might miss out on doing something fun if I have to be worried with keeping the camera dry, and not losing it.

Do any of you bring along a camera when going out to a bar/club/party? Any tips for keeping it: dry, in your possession, etc.? Maybe I should buy one of the disposable underwater cameras...

You can get one of those cheaper-end waterproof digicams, IIRC at least Olympus makes a bunch of those. I agree that a camera should be relatively small, so it fits your jeans pocket and can be carried around all the time. I already carry a wallet, a keyring and my cellphone in my pant pockets, so adding a camera can be challenging.

Sony made a bunch of very small digis a while back, but I think they dropped the line. They've been working on proper camera phones with the Sony-Ericsson mobile phone line and even marketing them as CyberShot phones, though, so maybe that could be the alternative in the future. Nokia is trailing the SE camera phones with the latest N82 model that has a 5mpix sensor - however, it's not the sensor but the optics that's still difficult to put into a mobile phone.

That sounds perfect! I'm guessing, because of the name, that you get the pictures from it without having to take it somewhere to be developed. That is what I was worried about with the regular disposables. I mean, there wouldn't be any illegal pics or anything, but I wouldn't feel right having strangers from a photo place seeing possibly embarrassing pics of my friends. I can imagine too many scenarios in which I inadvertently get someone in trouble because one of the developers was a relative, significant other, employer, ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, etc.

Thanks.

Try an ultra slim. Tons of brands make them and they fit in your pocked easily, and most of them are smaller than an average wallet.

Yes, its on my phone so it goes everywhere.

Took these downtown. Not horrible for a 1.3mp camera phone.

Those pics look great. I think it would be cool to have a nice camera phone, but I'm a carpenter and fancy phones don't survive very long around the job.

Yes... I don't leave the condo without my waterproof Olympus inside a leather camera case, inside my leather 'carry-all' bag. Now that my life is alot slower, I can take pics everyday if situations warrent it.

Nice shots! You almost have to take pictures when you're on the Michigan Ave. bridge, just to fit in with everybody else.

No, I only bring one when I'm going to a place I've never been before or when family is in town.
