Do you buy CDs?

So in this digital age, where do you stand on buying music? Do you buy CDs, buy songs online, or steal music? Personally, I used to get my music from torrents, but it's too much of a hassle, and I now get my music from the Amazon MP3 store, renting CDs for free from my local library, and borrowing/trading albums with friends.

I buy the CD's. I'll happily pay to have the actual CD as opposed to an mp3 copy on a computer that will most likely fail before I get around to burning a copy. I certainly won't steal music. I wouldn't want people to steal mine.

Nope...almost.

I shop almost exclusively iTunes. In the past 3 years, I've bought 2 physical CDs. One was The Beatles white album - they aren't on iTunes. The other was Tegan & Sara "The Con" with a bonus DVD of the recording of the album that isn't available on iTunes.

I do, but not as much as I used to. I usually borrow friends' CDs, or get them at the library. If its a band I enjoy listening to, I will usually buy the album.

i'm about 50/50 between itunes and cd's. itunes is easier at times, but i also like having a physical album than i can put on any computer.

btw hero, your avatar stopped me dead in my tracks. YOWZA!

I buy CD's 99% of the time. I wait for them to get real cheap, like cheaper than iTunes. My local shops have great deals a lot of the time. If I really want a CD that I can't find I'll get it on iTunes. I also get a few CD's from my college library but end up buying the particular CD later anyway. I just like to have the real thing in my possession.

Yeah I still buy them.I usually will have friends burn me copies of their CD's though.I buy off itunes too occasionally.

I won't download off Limewire because one of my relatives was sued by record companies for $400,000! They somehow talked it down to $4,000.

I buy CDs about 60% of the time, borrow friends' CDs and burn'em about 30% of the time, and buy through iTunes for the rest.

I download every now and then to give bands a listen that I normally wouldn't be able to. I try to buy my CDs at the shows, or on those big ole black things called records from the store (there is a ton of stuff that has never made the jump to CD!)

I just download anything I want off blogs/websites/Limewire. I see no reason to buy it if I can get it for free.

Let me know when you guys are next doing shows... I'll bring a laptop along and borrow one of your CD's from the Merch stand. After I've ripped it (it'll only take a few seconds, and you can watch me do it so I don't steal the CD) you can have it back. If any one else there wants a copy I can burn them a free copy to save them the hassle of having to buy one from you (and save you having to take their cash).

HELL YEAH!

I used to work at a record store, and still buy LPs and CDs from them all the time...In fact, I just picked up 2 Cure CDs, a Devo LP(with a 45 of Working In The Coal Mine included), and the 2 CD/1 DVD anniversary edition of London Calling yesterday. A burned CD just isn't anywhere close to having the full artwork and liner notes IMO.

And as far as checking out a band before buying them, a lot of record stores that sell used CDs will let you listen to a used CD before buying it.

And, just for the record, I've always looked at stealing music like this: If no one purchases music, musicians will most likely not be able to afford to make music, because they will have to work "normal day jobs"...sooner or later, there will be no new music released, and I don't know about any of you, but I would get really tired of hearing the same music over and over again...of course, this is also probably why I own over 6000 albums

I buy more CDs than ever - there's nothing that sounds as good and while I might listen to clips online - never more than once - if I want to play something and really listen, then it will be on CD!
