Nice to see I'm not the only one with GAS for motorcycles.

1. Guitars and amps. I'd like a Gibson SG, and a couple of G&L axes, plus a Mesa Express amp.
2. Cars. Hoping to snag an FR-S or BRZ in the next couple of years, but if BMW fixes the steering on the new 3 Series, I might go that route instead. Then there's the new Focus ST, a new WRX coming...it just never ends!
3. Cameras. Have two good ones, but want to upgrade both.
4. Watches. Pretty weak as GAS goes, but flares up occasionally.
5. Shoes. OK, not the most manly GAS, but I have lots of difficulty finding good shoes that fit, so when I do, GAS follows. Really into OluKai these days. I have three pairs, and want a couple more.

There is a fair amount of percussion gear I'd like to pick up (marimba, mbira, cymbals, hell, a real set of vibes). I'd like to get a second motorcycle. My old Guzzi is a beauty but I'd like to get something modern and reliable like a hammer. Then there's house stuff.... new counter tops in the kitchen, new bathroom... that list is truly endless.

Jacob | Oh yes the new ones are sweet but wayyyy out of my budget. Just gonna find the best deal I can under $4000 preferably green one.

My most recent is an '05 636 which I have had since new. 13 months ago, after much agonising and searching, I bought a Triumph Street Triple to replace it (hasn't actually replaced it yet, as I still have to sell the 636... ). Then I heard about Kawasaki bringing back the 636. GAH! The frustration. The GAS.
I rode a 2013 636 about two months ago, and I'm happy to say I no longer want one. It may have more midrange than a 600, but it's got nothing on the 675. Well, not until 9,000rpm (you could argue that is midrange on a 600). The suspension is nice, but I now have '09 ZX-6R forks, brakes and wheels on the Street Triple, so that's not enough to make me suffer from the GAS.
There's still plenty of GAS for the Triple though, partly because they have a lot of "standard" features missing from them.

Jacob | I bought a 2010 250R. My plan is to ride it a lot until I finish to pay for it (I did a 12 month plan) then get a brand new 300.
My last 2 bikes were 125cc, one Yamaha and the other Honda. I was looking for a slightly bigger one so I could go to work and do a few trips on it.
At the Honda and Yamaha dealers all the 250 and 300 motorcycles looked and felt like 'meh', but Kawi was instant love.

My gamefishing tackle collection was absurd at one point when you consider I didn't even own a boat I could use it on. I had bought it for using on other people's boats who wanted to catch Marlin but didn't have the gear to do it. In my collection I had the following until I sold it to my father:
- 4 x 80lb outfits (Shimano Tiagras and custom rods). Each outfit worth around $2200
- 4 x 50lb outfits (Shimano Tiagras and custom rods). Each one of those outfits was worth approximately $1500 brand new.
- 4 x 30lb outfits (Again, Tiagras and custom rods). Each outfit worth around $1200
- 2 x $400 fighting harnesses
- About 50 lures with an average value of $100 each
- Various other terminal tackle and rigging equipment to the value of about $750
Sold it all to my father for $12 000. Deal of the century considering the 80lb outfits never saw a fish.

but I already have a Blackstar HT-5 combo and a PRS SE Custom 22 guitar, and for how "well" I can play, those are already "too nice" lol. I love LPC's as well but they're almost too small for my mitts. I prefer the feel of the wide-fat PRS neck. I'd love a real Custom 22 or McCarty someday. |

However, I do not enjoy going to antique shops or anything like that at all. I like to find them from their owners where they mean something and have a story to tell, not just a price tag slapped on them like in a shop.

That is where I fuel my antique addiction. The owners might not be there, but the context of buying from a personal collection adds so much to a special acquisition.

| | | | I really only get GAS for distortion pedals, and for pedals that do weird stuff that I'll probably only ever use for one thing, or for nothing at all (e.g. I own a sitar emulator, for some damned reason).
