Anybody here a franchise owner? If yes, what made you do it, and how hard is it to start/run a business?

No but I wanna be a stubborn McDonald's owner. Every McDonald's commercial ends the same way: "Prices and participation may vary". I wanna open a McDonald's and not participate in anything. It'd be like:

Customer: "Do you have cheeseburgers?"
Me: "Nope! We got spaghetti...and blankets."

Sorry bump for you!

I own and run a motorcycle dealership.

What made me do it? I don't know... greed maybe.

Is it hard to run your business? Yes, always. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it but it will be hard.
Starting is always difficult, a lot of investments and you're bound to make mistakes that will cost you several amounts of money. I learned from such mistakes.

Why do you want to know?
Are you thinking of starting a business yourself?

A friend of mine just opened his first (in Slidell). He hasn't given every detail of the process, but his two predominant feelings seem to be satisfaction in doing what he really wants and that of drowning in what he hopes will be temporary debt.

Nothing in particular, I was researching franchises and was wondering how many people on TB actually own one. Eventually I will like to open my own business once my wife starts working

Sweet Peppers Deli. I have no idea how "standard" his contract is, but he has to open a few more within a few years.
