Probably. Also, he made some comment about the woman being Indian, and thought it was sooooo funny. I think that was worse than uttering the words that he said. Seems like a real dick ****.

While I find the whole episode funny, I think he went over the line in his job. Yeah, probably should be fired, but not on my account.

This.

For the record, I feel bad for people who have surnames that have certain negative or lewd meanings in the cultural language. I imagine it can make for some horrific junion high experiences.

Yes, should be fired. Clearly went out of his way to laugh and continue to mispronounce the name even after he knew it. In addition, he added "dik in sh#t" as well, while mocking her.

Well, I'm no expert on British sensibilities, but here in Denver, Colorado, I'm laughing my ass off. The best part is how amusing he thought it was and kept saying it and laughing. Hilarious!

Yes for his "it's appropriate because she's Indian" comment.

But look at this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMS7ZXPYD_M

The Indian Prime Minister herself states the correct pronounciation of her name is "Dikshit" regardless of spelling.

I say he should lay off the blow. He was fine until he threw out the Indian comments. That was a little awkward.

Im sorry, Id be laughing if I read that last name, myself. Regardless of who the person was or where they are from. It says dick, and then it says ****. Immature, maybe, but funny nonetheless

Yeah, while the continuted mispronunciation was annoying.

The "dik in s**t" was where it went from awkward into insulting.

There's a distinction between chuckling to yourself and insulting a person's name by blurting out what expletives you 'discovered' therein. The latter is indecent and, obviously, terribly immature. That said, TBQH, if someone made fun of my name, I'd probably ignore it.

But look at this video.

YouTube - ‪Paul Henry breaks his silence about his 'Dikshit" resignation from TVNZ‬‏

The Indian Prime Minister herself states the correct pronounciation of her name is "Dikshit" regardless of spelling.
Correction, she's not the Indian PM, she's the chief minister of Delhi.

Also, the name looks like that to you guys because the way it is actually pronounced would be pretty much impossible to imitate for people from English speaking nations: the 'd' and 't' in the name are pronounced in a palatalized manner. If you have a slight idea about Russian, the 't' and 'd' in 'dikshit' are pronounced as you would pronounce the 't' in 'nyet' or the 'd' is 'dasvidania'. Sheila Dikshit is having to state the pronunciation in that manner in the above video because of this constraint of English, that there are no palatalized vowels.
