the previous season seems to have upped its ridiculousness quota, what with the whole Dr. House going nuts scenario.
the season premiere starts in about 15 minutes, and our favorite fictional MD will be in an insane asylum.
I dunno if I'm going to bother watching, I might, just to get one last lol in at house's wisecracks before forgetting about the show entirely.
your opinions?

After several seasons of excellent ratings one of it's favorite characters (the Fonz) Jumped over a Shark while water skiing. At this point the shows ratings began to decline. Since then the phrase "Jumping the Shark" has basically become a euphemism for to cute for it's own good. Basically this happens when the writers for a long running series create more and more unbelievable scenarios.

there's nothing redeeming left about this show. House isn't even house anymore, he's some grumpy whiney old guy who's sad and alone. There's no wit, no intelligence, hell, there aren't even medical cases any more.

Good stuff.
Then again, I've loved Hugh Laurie since Blackadder.

But it does seem all too familiar:
"Brilliant, wisecracking doctor goes semi-nuts and must have psychiatric treatment".
Anybody remember the final, 2hr M*A*S*H from about 20 years ago???

Show = Crazy sickness overcomes person + House thinks it's just something simple + odd symptom that makes House think again + 45 minutes of "It could be this! Let's test! No, we have to treat now or they'll die" + Patient revealing something they've kept from the doctor + patient cured in the last 2 minutes.
Maybe it's changed since I stopped watching, but I lost interest a long time ago. |

I quit watching it a while ago because it was always the same show.

Off course, over here we are a season or two behind.
Last Sunday it was the episode that Cuddy almost got a baby by adoption but the teenage mother changed her mind.
Anything with Hugh Laurie is good to me.... well, for the time being.
I admit the first season had that spark, and that's fading. It was the first hospital show I could bear watching.
I wish Laurie would go back to comedy. "A bit of Fry and Laurie" was one of the best sketch shows ever. |
