Does anyone Rep their Geographic Location??

Ok. So I recently, well a year and a half ago, moved to Southern California. Since being here, I have noticed that the ultra cool thing to do is rep SO CAL. It is everywhere! People have car decals, clothes, and even tattoo's of it (mostly bro's). I used to live in northern California, and there was NOR CAL, but it wasn't nearly as popular as SO CAL is. I don't know if this is just a California thing or not...

Are there any other places that are like this???

Jimmy

I live in Idaho, yeah, yeah. I went to a bar the other night and met a giant guy named "Spice Train" and he had a tattoo in the shape of Idaho on the back of his neck. I like it here, but not that much.

Are you kidding? I live in Texas. People from here love this state wayyyyy too much.

Don't get me wrong, I love Texas, but some people here take it way too far to the next level. "Don't Mess With Texas" and whatnot.

Some areas in NYC are like that. Long Beach Island is a popular vacation spot, so you see a lot of LBI stickers on peoples cars. There's also a lot of stickers that show what exit people live off of the Garden State Parkway in Jersey. Pitiful, IMO.

I used to live in SoCal and saw that a lot too. You don't really see that here where I live now. Of course the metro DC area sucks a fat one. So...

In Michigan every body has a map of the state in the palm of their right hand. I mean everyone! It's freaky.

I love Upstate New York and the Hudson Valley but don't rep it. I sat in with an old time band once (on banjo) and the guy had west virginia tattooed on his arm with his county highlighted.

True. And to prove that point:

The Houston Texans. Would you see that from ANY other state in the US?

I don't ever see "Don't mess with Texas" statements outside of our anti-litter campaign. Do you? The campaign was so popular though that I've actually met people who thought that it was our state motto!

Regarding pride though...it's hard not to have pride in the state when you have the fairly recent history that many of us have. I'm 7th generation here and my direct ancestors were in the original company of Texas Rangers and took part in the fight for Texas independence from Mexico. We still have and enjoy land that was awarded to our ancestors for that service (original deed is in Spanish!). We have a lot of very personal history here and Texas' history in general is unique among the states...I think it is that history that tends to cause people to feel loyalty to the state. I'm sure it seems silly to the transplants but oh well.

That's because the fine people of NorCal didn't need stickers and tattoos to convince themselves they live in a superior environment.

SoCal, me thinks you doth protest too much.
