ok but does it?....do you feel good to check back and see your thread grow? Is it something that brightens up your day? Do you feel like part of this community and now have more friends cause your thread is more then a page???
Or do you just want to be counted as an individual? |

So I'm interested in having people reply to my threads, but I'm not the kind of chap who'll bump his threads just to keep them active. Besides, I don't start many threads anyway.

Of course it's nice, but the threads I tend to start, are usually interesting to very small group of people, so after a few hits it's usually bye-bye.

| | | | I'm in constant need of more virtual friends.
I friend myself on FACEBOOK.
I tweet myself on Tuesdays.
If my cell phone goes unrung for more than 12 minutes, I call someone to make sure it works.
I repeatly watch videos of my band and myself on Youtube and try to stuff the bar with thumbs-up.
I visit my own website to look at pictures of me.
I goggle myself when my self-esteem is running low.
I dial numbers I usually don't dial when I drink.
They usually leave a message in the morning that involves vulgar language.
I do it again anyway.
Answer is no.
Most of 'bloggin' is like playing the game Telephone..You only read the last couple comments and comment on that isntead of the topic...usually atleast. But the "Chick" or "Chick with bass" was phenominal.

As far as the serious threads, I'd say "appreciative" would be more accurate. It's nice when those with more experience/knowledge pop in and provide some good insight/advice. |

I never start threads. I'm a thread killer. I am the grim reaper of threads. This may even be the last post on this thread.
Sorry. |

| | Registered User | | | | | Wow, that's a pretty stark view of your fellow internet participants.
I think it has more to do with where you post rather than what you post. With few exceptions ( and I think those are mostly on purpose due to immaturity ) the replies and subjects on TB have been rather well thought out and fully comprehensible.
If you go to places like 4Chan you get what you deserve. That "culture" is completely different than, say, this one. Sports sites are another good example. They tend to get "fanatics" who rage post because they are defending or rallying behind a banner (team/person) It tends to brings out the worst in posting because the passion gets in the way of reason.
I think it's important to understand that as in life the minority that do the unfortunate things are more memorable than those that are average or even exceptional. Your perception is skewed to believe the majority are trolls when in fact they are a very very small part of the people who post.
That's my take at any rate. |

So, yes, I do appreciate feedback. I wouldn't say I feel any pride in the size of the thread in and of itself, though. Sometimes I start an OT thread when I can't talk to anyone I know or I find something on the web that only you guys can appreciate, but I'm okay to let those sink after just a few replies.
My replies to threads, on the other hand - that's my paintbrush!

Like /b/ I have no idea what that symbolizes. | Lol "/b/" is the "Random" forum (the URL is 4chan.org/b/), aka the Anything Goes forum, aka the birthplace of almost all internet memes (LOLCats, Rick Rolling, etc.)
It's basically forum version of what would happen if South Park and Andrew Dice Clay had an illegitimate 12-yr-old child that was traumatized in a war, managed to consume the world's supply of alcohol and drugs, and had acquired an affinity for the animal kingdom.
Back the the original topic, seeing a thread grow is very satisfying.

| | | | Not really, because when my threads grow, it's usually due to people trying to insult me or questioning my motives for starting the thread in the first place. Quite annoying, and part of the reason I don't often start threads here.

Part of what comes with posting on the internet is people trying to insult the poster and questionning the posters motives for starting the thread in the first place. If youre annoyed by it you need to grow some thicker skin.
