Dog going into surgery today

She's going in for surgery, on her way now.
Sabre's been losing weight for a month - at first that seemed good, but it continued (with the runs) and started to accelerate. This weekend she was looking like a Biafran refugee - very frightening. Tests last week showed no parasite. They gave her antibiotics and special food. She continued to lose weight this week, and x-rays this week show an obstruction in her stomach and something very weird (docs are not sure what) regarding her intestines.
So we don't know what we're dealing with, she's on her way to a specialist surgeon and we'll know in a few hours.

Send good thoughts her way, if you can.

A photo of Sabre at full weight. Hoping she gets back to this soon.

Thank you. I'm a worried papa.

Hang in there, Poochy-dad......best of luck for a great outcome. Hard to believe how these poochies work their way into full family status in no time.

I hope all goes well. I just lost my 20 year old cat yesterday. Losing a pet can be hard. I hope your dog is around for many more years.

Hope everything goes well and she's on the road to recovery soon.

I've witnessed that kind of weight loss with a family dog years back due to distemper. He made it, but for quite a while the effects were scary and saddening to watch.

All the best.

Firstly, beautiful dog.
I have a french mastiff who likes, nay loves to eat things that are not food. Thanksgiving three years ago, Esav(my dog) without my knowledge, ate a tube sock before we left to go see family 4 hours away. Anyways, same symptoms you describe, so we go to a local vet out if town. They do xrays, and see an obstruction. We love our vet and wouldn't trust anyone else so we drove home immediately to have the surgery done. They took out almost 1 foot of intestines to get the whole sock out. Today you wouldnt know it ever happened, aside from the scar. I'm sure your pooch will be fine, but that wont stop you from worrying. Just feel confident in the fact this can be rather common, and your vet will know just what to do.
Good luck.

I hope that they can resolve it relatively easily and let Sable get back to being Sable. All best wishes from central NC.

This reminds me of a neighborhood dog growing up. She often got out of her owners yard and would roam around. One day we were playing in a neighbors yard and their little girl shouts out "Toaster! Its Toaster, she got out!" The dogs name was Muffin. Close...

Thanks for that and good luck. I still have her sister from the same litter to keep my company for a while.
