Funny cause I saw the first picture and was like, "Wow I didn't know they had skydiving dogs! O wait.... It's just a short jump to water."
Then the next picture was one actually skydiving.

|  | Registered User | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Memphis, TN | | | Nice. Back in the "Dark Ages", I was a K-9 handler in Vietnam. The bond formed between a dog and it's handler is hard to explain. You go through so much together, and their loyalty and protectiveness are unparalleled.
They have become much more specialized over the past 40 years though. When I first went into K-9, all the dogs were the old "Sentry Dogs". They were simply trained to detect and attack. Then we transitioned into the "Patrol Dogs". They were also trained to detect and attack, but more emphasis was placed on attacking only on command or if the dog or handler were being attacked. The patrol dogs could be walked through a crowd without attacking anybody (unlike the old sentry dogs). More like the police dogs of today. Drug and bomb-sniffing dogs were just coming into their own back then. Now the dogs are trained in many more specialty areas.
