'Soul Train' creator Don Cornelius dead in apparent suicide - latimes.com

For us older folks,...we knew the impact of his show. Soul Train along with a few others got me into wanting to play. He came to my High School in '77 and presented a show there. This dude had class and was the coolest host on TV. RIP Don Cornelius.

Class! Man was full of cool as well! Somebody else said if Don stood too long in one place, he would leave a puddle of hip. All that.

Loved that show in the 70s.

Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, Midnight Special, and Soul Train were the Big Three "must watch" shows of my youth. I miss them all, but thank goodness for YouTube!

Ah good memories of Don... he was the coolest. One of the most memorable moments was the 'night' Don and Mary Wilson had some serious 'legtricity' between them:
