Honestly, your best bet is to take a look around for local charities that accept books, or usually most towns have at least 1 used book store that you can take them in to. I don't know the area where you are at all (obviously, haha), so you'd be best off asking some of your local friends and see if they, or anyone they know, knows the best route of action.
The biggest problem I have with books is that when they become outdated, most people tend to throw them out because it's far easier than finding a good use for them.

They keep what they want, then they have a rack they sell
used hardcovers and paperbacks off of. Finally, they put the rest in the basement and do a big book sale fundraiser once
a year.
