Driving a 2wd Porsche on a dirt road has to be one of the scariest things ever. Never mind the drops

He sounded like he shredded the transmission a few times during that run.

Nice,...thanks for sharing. I'd like to see Dale Jr or any of those left turn only guys try to pull this off.

I realize that NASCAR is a different type of race and requires different strategies but I find hill climb and rallye to be infinitely more entertaining to watch than NASCAR and I say that having been to a few Winston Cup races in my lifetime (back when beer and cigarettes still sponsored the sport).

Nice one. Although I do kind of prefer the 1990 hill dance video from that climb. Doing the same run in a now 22 year old french lunchbox that has a 650 hp engine in it is just a fun idea. It was the world record too back then.

Here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJsHlugRls4 Gotta love the quick scene at around 3:30.

They are using what I think are called "straight-cut" gears in the transmission. Those make that somewhat unusual whining sound. And then he hit the rev limiter a couple of times where he didn't want to shift up right before breaking again for a corner.

That's insane! I'd be terrified for my life driving up that road at 15mph!

I'm wondering how fast the European rally drivers could pull that off. Then again, use of flying cars is probably considered cheating

I always love that camera angle in race cars, makes you really appreciate the fact those guys are insane & very talented.
I once saw a camera placed where you could see the feet of a rally driver champion, INSANE ....looked like the guy was dancing.

Believe me...it IS a white-knuckle drive at 15mph IMO. I had to drive down it in a snow storm once too and that didn't help.

I never understood why people watch these races standing on the outside of the curves in the road.
