I finally had enough. Enough of the crashes, the random errors, the blatant refusal to end process trees, the software conflicts, etc., etc. etc. My XP machine was running killer. I'm a dummy-head...
ANYWHO, I just downgraded back to XP following a full format on my OS partition. Problem is, now I cant get my network to work. I am not home now, and really didn't put lots of time into looking yet, but if anyone has a quick idea, please let me know. After all my problems with Vista, I don't wanna deal with tech issues... Not gonna lie. So if anyone has any ideas, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

It had a mind of it's own changing the file extensions on my CAD files, etc. I had my computer geek do it for me, I don't remember him having any probs with the network. Good luck and welcome back to XP!! |

I have no idea what machine you have, but it won't hurt to make sure the chipset drivers, LAN drivers, and router/modem software is up to date. I know most times the OS has workable drivers, but that's the first thing I check.

But I needed it for work ASAP and couldn't wait. I remember telling him that if it was any good I'd upgrade later.
I don't envision me "upgrading" any time soon.
I'm most interested in seeing how Microsoft rebounds from this.
Back to the original topic, I think paying someone to come fix it is going to save you a lot of head pounding. Like the last poster, my upgrade on my old desktop to XP from ME (terrible OS) was a headache and a half.

| Strange, I've been using vista for awhile now and no problems...Infact, its the opposite for me. My XP system keeps crashing and dying, while my vista system is still going strong... |

I'm sure it won't be much of a pita to troubleshoot. I just wanted a decent headstart from the tech-heads on here... Thanks guys!

Not only is it more stable and loads faster, but it takes up WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less resources and plays nice with every app I have. My Bro in law bought a laptop with Vista and I have to fix it for him every single time I visit his house...he's not a computer idiot mind you, but if Vista is to be so mch more user friendly, WHY is he having so many problems then? Oh, and mush LESS plug and play with peripheras too, what an annoyance. I suppose if all you do is web browse, it's a great OS...but to those who actually compute often, what an albatros.
Boy, I never thought when I started the "it's official, Vista sucks" thread a few weekes ago I would be starting sucha trend here....
I'll wait until they streamline and debunk everything in Vista before re-visiting everything again....or wait until they abandon it entirely to have a good laugh..... a million businesses denying its existence cannot be wrong...
