Hopefully the officer gets some serious jail time & or fines and removal from his job.

The wheels of justice grind along while accusations move at light speed.

I was passed over for firefighter jobs 3 times simply because I have a mental illness. It does not affect my day to day life, I take my meds and that's that. I also had 8 years experience as a firefighter previous to applying to those 3 jobs. Discrimination? Yes. Anything I can do about it? No. Now I have to spend 5 years getting my BSN because there's no money in being a private ambulance medic. Sometimes life ain't fair.

Is your point that everybody has hardships? If so, I don't think it is relevant. You have had to deal with an illness, not a malicious action that someone perpetrated against you because of some predjudice they harbor. When a person knows that specific individual lied to hurt him and suceeded, bitterness is natural. It's not good to dwell on it, but it only makes sense to acknowledge it. I'm just glad the worm has turned,a nd now this cop is suffering for the dirt he has allegedly done.

That's sucks. That officer seems to be a mean vindictive pile of ****. Still, I don't get why he didn't just show up his junior year and kick butt in baseball. I've never been in that situation, but I did grow up as an athlete, and if there's one thing I've learned from that, it's about sticking it out through adversity. I would have never turned to drugs and alcohol (although I did my fair share), instead of focusing on my sport. Still, I'm not this guy, so I don't know what was running through his head. Just a crappy situation all around.

I don't think the dream was stolen per se...

It says fairly early in the article that he was good, not great, and maybe could get a shot in the bigs, but probably not.

If anything, just sealed his likely fate.

Still sucks though. Nothing worse than a DB cop.

What people overlook in cases like this is that not only was one young man's life screwed up (realistic dream or not, having it end this way is awful), it's also that the actual criminals are out walking the streets. This kind of policing isn't just a problem for minorities, it's a problem for everyone who wants safer streets.
