I think the Saints could line up Alvin and the Chipmunks and Brees would still throw for 4000 yards.
This kind of accuracy is off the charts impressive, even if your not a Saints homer like me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVoqA-LKGb4

Sorry had to push this back to the top...

I'll post up his numbers next week after the Eagles game and take my lumps if I have them coming.

That'll should add some perspective to his numbers.

Most of the points that the Lions got were thanks to poor special teams play and a fumble return for a TD, not bad defense.
We have some issues to address on special teams and the offense needs to work on not putting the ball on the ground, the defense actually held their own.
Edit: as of right this moment, the Saints have the #6 defense in the NFL. Yes, it's early, yes it was just the Lions, but it's still much better than you think Eric.

Also, the Falcons' D last year ranked right behind the Saints'. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorysta...true&Submit=Go

Maybe they're improved, but it's hard to conclude much from that one game.

-Mike | Ha! Touche, Mike. I'm definitely not saying the Fins are good, just trying to temper Gard's usual hyperbole.

I hate making excuses because 27 points is 27 points, but it was special teams and fumbles that accounted for 17 of those points not poor defense. The Lions started 3 drives inside the Saints 15 yard line and only got 10 points out of it. Darned impressive considering. another 7 came off a fumble recovery ran back for a touchdown.
Hardly bad D- they gave up a little more than 200 yds passing(with 3 ints) and my favorite: 34 yards on the ground.
Special teams gave up something in the neighborhood of, I dunno, 6 million yards on punt and kickoff returns. THAT is where the focus needs to be.
