I don't drink much, but occasionally on a weekend I like to enjoy a drink or two and try something I haven't drank before.
Here's the stuff I LOVE that does not give me hangovers:
Remy Cognac
Henessy Brandy
Single Malt Scotch
Tequila (cuervo gold)
American Lager Beer (of course)
Tanqueray (I've tried other london dry gins, but this stuff is the best IMHO).
Absynth (at least the french Le Fee, I haven't tried the american one yet).
Here's the stuff that I can't have even a single glass of (even on cocktails) without them killing me the next day:
Rum (the caramel colored ones, not the white ones)
Vodka
Johnny Walker (any colored label!)
Guiness (this stuff gives me nightmares!)

Drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink you have. Wikipedia has a good article on it. I'll summarize it for you: drink in moderation. |

I never get hangovers, I drink at least 5 glasses of water before I hit the bed.

(but worth it IMHO)

Cuervo Gold is absolute bottom of the barrel tequila. It is the Pabst Blue Ribbon of tequila. I type this not to criticize your taste, but to hopefully turn you on to a world you are missing. However, contrary to most people's opinion, Cuervo does make some good tequila. Their Tradicional is a great value and their de la Familia is excellent but pricey.
You can find the Patron in the picture locally for sure, and it's excellent, but a bit overpriced due to popularity and marketing in my opinion. It is an export product they don't even sell in Mexico.
My favorite tequilas are made by Herradurra. I could go on with suggestions but I've already derailed enough....
Hangover prevention: lots of water, B complex vitamins, and NO SUGAR in your drinks.

Your brain then shrinks a bit and begins to pull away from your skull. That's why your head feels too large in the morning.

I usually just try not to drink to the point where I know I am going to have a hangover... happens sometimes, though. I've found that whiskey usually leaves me free of hangovers.

I (personally) like 1800. It's not super high end like Patron, but it's good stuff... And a tad cheaper.

Anyway, malt-based beverages like beer and whisky gives me the worst hangovers. Give me drinks with some sugar inside or just drinks made of a clear spirit and soda, and I'll feel much better the following day.
Anyway, the biggest contributor to hangovers is tobacco. By far. Especially if you're not a regular smoker....

Wow, I've never heard it described that way before. That's awesome!
To the OP: I've heard that sake is extremely forgiving, a "clean liquor" in the parlance...nearly impossible to get a hangover from drinking sake. Unfortunately, the only times I drink sake in large enough quantities to possible bring on a hangover, I'm chasing that sake with Sapporo draft lagers in a 1:1 ratio, so my experience doesn't make for a particularly accurate control group. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
