I'm looking to buy a bowler hat like the ones the droogs used in A Clockwork Orange used. I'm guessing these are bowler hats after investigation and looking around on the net. Where would I be able to purchase on online? How much? I guess this goes out to the guys who have knowledge about hats . Thanks! |

I took it to the haberdasher to have the lining fixed who said it was still worth about 80 bucks, and it was pretty haggard by then. You will also be needing eyeball cufflinks, white suspenders and a codpeice. That last one might prove the most difficult to locate.

Yeah, the codpeice isn't really hard to locate, I was hinting at the alternative lifestyle connotations of wearing such a thing or purchasing one to where over your clothes out in public. Also, to the OP, English bowlers are more traditional gear, but I own several stetsons and there aren't too many better hat makers out there. My great uncle worked for them for quite a while and I got great deals on new hats, but he passed away a few years ago. IMO, Bowlers are also very comfortable and practical hats, they just arn't modern in fashion I guess. I'm no fashion guru, but like foderas and derbies, they do seem to have a niche following of sorts. I actually found a beaver felt bowler in a goodwill a few weeks ago for 65 bucks, It was made by some haberdasher in the UK, but I didn't really recognize it. Very nice hat, but it wasn't there the last time I went in.
