Droog Hat - Bowler Hat

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking to buy a bowler hat like the ones the droogs used in A Clockwork Orange used. I'm guessing these are bowler hats after investigation and looking around on the net. Where would I be able to purchase on online? How much? I guess this goes out to the guys who have knowledge about hats . Thanks!

Real good bowler hats can cost a bloody fortune. I had one made in england that my grandfather gave me. I took it to the haberdasher to have the lining fixed who said it was still worth about 80 bucks, and it was pretty haggard by then. You will also be needing eyeball cufflinks, white suspenders and a codpeice. That last one might prove the most difficult to locate.

that cod thingie looks like standard issue ice hockey goal gear......my derby came from ebay a gently used stetson 40 bux but i had to replace the sweat band and have it cleaned..otherwise no issues

40 bux! Nice buy. Yeah, the codpeice isn't really hard to locate, I was hinting at the alternative lifestyle connotations of wearing such a thing or purchasing one to where over your clothes out in public. Also, to the OP, English bowlers are more traditional gear, but I own several stetsons and there aren't too many better hat makers out there. My great uncle worked for them for quite a while and I got great deals on new hats, but he passed away a few years ago. IMO, Bowlers are also very comfortable and practical hats, they just arn't modern in fashion I guess. I'm no fashion guru, but like foderas and derbies, they do seem to have a niche following of sorts. I actually found a beaver felt bowler in a goodwill a few weeks ago for 65 bucks, It was made by some haberdasher in the UK, but I didn't really recognize it. Very nice hat, but it wasn't there the last time I went in.

bowler results...the Christy's one is the business!

does the feather signify anything in hat history? is it looked down upon if you take it off or is it just personal preference?

Traditionally, the feather is something the wearer adds to signify a notable achievement in their life....

i'm guessing wool is the most durable since it costs the least and is the least luxurious im guessing.

hey guy's when measuring your cranium/head should you use the same measurement for the cap or should you spare an inch or two to make it a bit more comfy and not so tight?
