I played D&D once. Well, we barely got started and had to put the game away because our dungeon master was too drunk to coherently lead the game. Then we watched Stewart Little.

If it were me though, I woulda summoned a Balrog to ward off the reaper, or atleast not ventured out without a cleric or paladin in the party...thats just common sense.
