DXF to BMP conversion, how?

Hi, all You CAD gurus.

The title says it all.

Export just exports the screen, not the whole drawing no matter what I do.

The result will benefit the TB community, I believe .

Hi.

Just ProgeCad, it's free and close enough to the ACAD 13 I used in poly many moons ago.

The problem is that when I export the rather large cad drawing (an interesting schematics ) as a BMP, the text is unreadable. Sort of WYSIWYG printscreen so to speak. I haven't found the way to adjust the bitmap resolution.

Well, in AutoCAD it is just an export option. download the demo and save it there.

Forgive my CAD ignorance (I'm a Maya animator) but isn't DXF a 3D format? vs 2d for BMP?

Hi.

I have AutoCad versions also, but at least the ones I use (personal use only) do the exporting the same way, just the current screen. Might be doing something wrong though.

DXF is just short for "Drawing Interchange Format, or Drawing Exchange Format" (Wiki quote), a means for different programs to use the same data. Well more or less...

Found anydwg.com, and their programs. I'll give it a try.

Still would like to know whether it's possible to export whole drawing in desired resolution in Autocad or ProgeCad.

Regards
Sam

You will not get the same funtionality from a BMP as a DXF. A BMP is raster graphics (pixels and colors) whereas a DXF is vector graphics (lines and arcs).

You can zoom in endlessly with no pixelization in a DXF because there are no pixels.

Hi.

Yep, tell me about it.

The anydwg software works, sort of.

Now the next dilemma: ~250 Kb dwg/dxf needs to be 1MB bitmap. Any advice about THAT?
