Found two in my room.

They freak me out.

I hope they don't eat my brain.

My dad had a thing is his ear when he was a kid, it burrowed in there and they had to use acid to burn it out.

I've been wary of earwigs since he told me the story when I was a kid.

I don't think they actually burrow into people, I believe that is more of a misconception. They do have a nice set of pincers, and are known to bite. Unless your house is very damp and dark, I would believe them to be an isolated incident. That is, unless you are leaving them a food source, or there are other insects present for them to prey on.

His was actually one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockchafer

They burrow to bury their eggs. so I guess thats what it was doing.

It's not damp or dark and it's pretty clean. Found one yesterday and one today, though. I did read that the burrowing was kind of an urban legend.

they're harmless and don't burrow into your ear and eat your brain.

However my Uncle John was a combat medic (Corpsman) during ww2 on Iwo Jima. He used to enjoy telling the story about a millipede that he extracted from a guys ear..
