Ouch! First I've heard of it. Most of my family's still down in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami. There's still time for this to shift out into the Atlantic. *crosses fingers* Y'all be careful and tie down/tape/cover everything!

They have the center of that hurricane making landfall 2PM Saturday about five miles from my house. I just hope it weakens a little, which it probably won't seeing as how it has a lot of open, warm water ahead of it.... that way I could just stay at home and hang instead of running for the hills!

The last hurricane I was in was David. A CAT 5 that was supposed to hit us right in Miami, but weakened to a CAT 2 before tuning north along the coast. It was a dud for a 15 year old kid wanting to live through a hurricane, but it killed over 2000 people in it's coarse. Good luck to you.

Having sat through Hurricane Ike a few years ago, I feel for you guys.

Unless you're in a low lying area or live in a shoddily built house, it's usually not the storm itself that sucks so much, it's the week without electricity and cleaning up all the broken tree limbs and torn up fencing that gets to ya.

Now weather.com says it would be a CAT 4 for the South Florida region but tend to stay away..

I slept through Charlie, Jeanne and Ivan when they swept Central Florida in '04. I had just arrived as part of my job relocation the day before Charlie hit. Looks like most of Florida will now just get the outer rain bands.

Try sitting through one for two days straight! Hurricane Bonnie rolled up here back in 98 (I think) and stalled right on top of us. Two days of hurricane and no power. Fun!

The cone of doom has moved since last night. Florida is no longer in the cone, but we're nowhere near out of the woods yet.

Great.... you would think that despite all of the tribulations of living in Jersey. We'd at least be spared hurricanes, right? Bah!

Now it's looking like the main landfall will be closer to Cape Fear near Wilmington than it will here on the state line. If they keep moving it by the time it gets up here it'll hit the Outer Banks, and we'll just get the edge of it.

Anyone have an empty garage bay in NJ, I'd like to stash my hot rod for the weekend. Don't want to leave it outside in the storm
