i realized very quickly that dry wit and sarcasm does not fly in CA. i received many a quizzical stare...

also, i dunno if walking is an east coast thing, but the folks i met really didn't know what to make of me when i said i was going to WALK to the guitar center from hollywood blvd (not a long walk by my standards).

and i expected the pacific ocean to be warmer.

edit: i only went to L.A.

I had fun, in la.

then I went to sunnyvale.

they had no sidewalks, and noone walked anywhere.

when I told the guy at the hotel I was going for a walk to find some food or beer he looked at me like I was insane.

LA was cool. so was sunnyvale. I just fond it really hard to get around.

I went there with an aching in my heart because someone told me there was a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.

I never found her.

I'm from the south coast, not the east coast, but I'll chime in here all the same.

I was severely disappointed that the Pacific ocean was cold.

Burritos in California pwn all.

Driving on Hwy1 is one of the most beautiful experiences a human being can have.

West coasters say "these ones" and "those ones" instead of just "these" and "those".

Learning to speak Spanish is a good idea.

Guitar Center still sucks, even though it's in it's home state.

Mesa/Boogie amps are EVERYWHERE.

Running into celebrities is pretty common. It's safe to assume that everybody you meet may be famous.

San Francisco is always, always 7 degrees colder than you want it to be.

Electing an Austrian bodybuilder as governor is just so crazy it just might work.

Los Angeles might as well secede from California and become it's own entity. The same goes for San Francisco.

Gay people make the best cookies. (Witness Hot Cookie in the Castro... best chocolate balls I ever put in my mouth.)

Los Angeles highways are just parking lots in disguise.

Sahn Diahgoh is Welsh for "a whale's vagina".

San Francisco seems to be an equal mix of New Orleans and New York, with only the best parts of both.

Califonians say "hella" a lot. I'm still not sure what it means.

My first stop was Northern California, where my Fiat gave up the ghost. It was Humboldt County at the end of the '70s.... so I really don't remember the first, oh, five years or so.

I know I played a lot of gigs and floated in a lot of hot tubs. I loved it up there. Nice girls.

True. Missing Persons even wrote a song about it.

i'm an east coast kid through and through. that being said, i fell in love with sf. the weather is always perfect and the walking is awesome. oh, and golden gate park is one of the coolest places i've ever been.
that being said, it is also the only place on the west coast i've ever been.
