Was chatting with a friend the other day and we were talking about general stuff - life, bills, kids, mortgages, etc and I jokingly remarked "hey, it aint easy being me", his reply was that he felt that his life was very easy and required little to no skill. (no kids, mucho cash, bought his house outright etc)
So I was thinking about it and thought that it made a great sorta open-ended/ general question for discussion - kind of like a measure of your skill at life vs the challenges you face. So - lemme ask you - is it easy being you?

| | | | I'm not rich, have to watch my money, lot's of challenges, usually busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest, but I really can't complain. I have a great wife-to-be, a roof over my head, decent bass equipment, two bands I enjoy playing in, and a job I don't dread getting up for in the morning. I also live in a truly beautiful part of the of US.
So, no, it isn't too hard being me.

I'm in the middle of a huge wedge of exam stress at the moment, so I wouldn't call my life 'easy', but that's just for a season, I guess.

I'm 30, recently divorced, and have a house hanging over my head that my ex got because we're so underwater we can't sell it and I can't afford it. Until she can refinance, it's a liability with me.
I'm on SSDI and unable to work so financially things are tight, though I'm in a better situation now than I was even a few months ago.
But on the upside, I know where I'm going to be in 6 months and I know that my life will be better, that financial issues are going to be better, I'll be sharing my life with a new love, and my life is now starting over.
Is it easy? No, but I don't think life is supposed to be easy.

| | That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it.. | | Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Robbinsville, NJ | | | See, when I analyze myself, I kinda go with the thought that I absolutely rock at being a dad a musician and so on - all of that is easy, but there are a few areas that I really suck in that makes it hard to be me. Ex - I have the mechanical aptitude of a squid and having just bought a house that needs some work, it seems like it takes a tremendous amount of effort to fix something that someone else would be able to fix in 5 seconds with little effort. On the other hand, my kids are all "daddy's boys" which means that it's "dad this, dad that" aaaaall day long - I honestly love that because it makes me feel great to be so depended on and trusted, but damn that takes a lot out of you sometimes. So while I can say that I do an awesome job at being me, there are a lot of aspects both good and bad that make it hard.

| | THIS HAND OF MINE GLOWS WITH AN AWESOME POWER! | | Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: USA; Mitchellville, Maryland | | | To elaborate on my earlier post, it is INSANELY easy being me. So much so that I'm often disappointed in myself because despite the advantages I've been given I'm not using them at all.

I'm absolutely sure that if I could motivate myself properly that there would be next to nothing in the world that could stop me. The problem is finding that.
It's more a case of "I know I can do it, but I just need to do it."
