The easy way to switch from Vista to XP???

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a new Vaio that's very well spec'd out, which came with Vista on it. I may have to try and install XP in the near future due to using my machine as a DAW (Vista could be a pain, if my Alesis Mastercontrol even works with it).

I've stumbled upon this while looking up driver information (I have a Blu-Ray player/Camera/Mic/Etc... and would like to keep these things after 'downgrading' to XP.

Instead of having to look up tons of drivers, couldn't I just back these up, store them on an external HD, and load them up again after installing XP?

It makes sense to me...

Andrew

It might not work because of the different ways the OS controls hardware, but I don't really know, so...grain of salt?

Vista drivers that you have currently may or may not work with XP.

I switched from Vista to XP on my recording machine a few weeks back - I just trawled round and collected most of the drivers I needed before doing the switch, didn't take too long.

BTW, it was a good move to make for me, the PC I have is a dream setup for recording now, it runs beautifully and it's really quick.

Yeah, my machine is killer. It's the OS I just don't care much for. We'll see how it goes when I try to use my Alesis.

@ Sean: I'll look how it works on my friend's computer.
