Eating ALL the time?????

Working in a grocery store (I just stock ****. nothing brain taxing ) I've noticed a LOT more prepacked snack products that are around 100 cals.

Have we become a society that snacks a lot, instead of relying on 3 really good meals?

I personally eat 3 small meals and usually two sustaining snacks throughout the day.

I eat healthy, though.

Snacks have become either fruit or nuts for me, and I usually eat three meals a day. If any are going to be skipped it's dinner.

We don't care what we eat, as long as we can hold it in one hand so we can eat it while we drive / work / walk / etc. One-hand food is in, whether it's made of pure plastic or not...but it can't drip.

I'm serious. I've been to sessions where this kind of meal packaging was discussed and lauded.

Yes, we are more and more a snacking society.

Science, I believe has proved that snacking all day, is healthier than three meals a day.

I think that the masses are being devided into two groups and heading in two different directions. Those who are eating more healthy foods and those who care less and less. But more and more people "in the know" are coming agree that more and smaller meals/snacks keep your metabolism(sp) "fired up". So the three-meal concept is falling off more and more. I find that when I split it up into more and smaller meals/snacks, and drink lots of water, I get hungry more often, but I have more energy.

So the short answer is yes, were getting away from the three "square" meals a day plan more and more.

thats what i was about to say--latest research shows that like 7-8 small meals a day are better for metabolism (or something like that) rather than 3 meals. Of course, I know a lot of people who eat 3 meals a day, supplimented with regular snacking too

I know it's crazy.... But does anyone here just eat... ya know.... when they're hungy? I mean, your body tells you things for a reason. The whole scheduled eating thing seems odd to me.

I am a firm believer in eating when you are hungey, but don't eat until you feel full. Eating until you feel full is a sign of overeating.

+1

Exactly what I do....some days I feel like eating healthy, some days I feel like eating ****

I don't follow quantity of meals (although I probably should count quality a bit more)

well, there is this... http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...r_thirsty.html

apparently, a lot of people feel hungry when they are actually thirsty, so maybe we don't really know exactly what our body is telling us?

i still agree with you--there isn't really much reason for 3 meals a day, just eat when you are hungry (just make sure it isn't junk food or an incredible amount of food)

its the same way for sleep--you don't need to sleep 8 hours every night--they say the best practice is to set your alarm for one time every day, and then go to bed when you feel tired--that is your body telling you how much sleep you need
