When I was 12 I had appendicitis and during surgery they had found I had a condition called Meckel's Diverticulum. Quote: |

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it can cause weight/eating issues after losing a little bit of my small intestine.
I'm 18 and barely weigh more then 100lbs, I eat healthily and even have gone on many weight gaining diets (muscle building, good fat building, ect.) and I still don't gain weight. It's really frustrating, I always feel so unhealthy. I would go to a doctor but I have no insurance. Any help or suggestions would be MUCH appreciated. |

| | | | The small intestine is used for breaking down fats and proteins. So having a smaller small intestine(funny) means that your body absorbs less of the proteins and fats that you eat.
So one solution is to drastically increase the about of carbohydrates that you consume instead of protein. Eat more pasta, and other starchy foods, which starts being broken down the second it hits your saliva. The fats that you eat should be polyunsaturated(such as fish) which is easier for your body to absorb.
Start weight lifting. Find a friend that knows what he's doing, and learn from him. Learning from someone else is very crucial to starting a regime. And dont cut out cardio. You should try going on runs and swimming. Swimming is a full body workout, and running keeps your ripped. Working out will increase your appetite 10 fold. |

Theres a free clinic open once a month around here and I'm gunna see what a doctor says. |

Better to be slender with plenty of lean muscle mass than to be heavier just for the sake of being heavier.
Suggest you maintain a balanced, high-protein, high-calorie diet: All the fish, poultry, legumes and nuts you want. All the fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains you want. Consume pasta, breads and potatoes liberally. Red meat, dairy products, fats and sugars in moderation...

So it does seem prudent to get looked at by a doctor, even if there is nothing wrong with you, to put your mind at ease. |

For me, i too eat a lot of carbs and in the last year i started weights, only at home. no need for a gym. With consultation from my doctors and chiropractor (im 6ft4, bad back and hip condition so monthly chiro) they developed a series of weight exercises i can do three times a week.
Within 12 months ive gone from 60kgs to nearly 80. I certaintly dont look fat, but well built. It takes some time and dedication. Try not to eat crap all the time, its not good for you.
being an AV installer i tend to crawl around roof spaces a lot, heaving lifting, pulling cables etc. So during the day i burn off whatever i eat. Ive found a decent breakfast followed by a plain bag of chips (its potato so carbs, and salt is good too) and juice in the morning allow me to last until midday.
Lunch time, eat whatever, can be takeaway etc. Eat something. Missing lunch is bad. Then have a decent meal for dinner.
Make sure you get exercise three times a week. I wanted to do more but the doctors said strictly no. You can over do it.
