What do you think about this? It'll put me off buying on Ebay in a big way.

I think that both buyer and seller feedback should be required to be submitted before either is visible. That way, if a buyer leaves negative feedback, a seller won't be able to retaliate.

The negative feedback is a safety precaution, and serves as a warning. ALL negative feedback should be viewable, and uneditable by the seller.

they aren't banning ALL negative feedback, only the ones coming from sellers.

Thats alright then, that means that if a seller gets negative feedback for the right reasons he cant just return negative feedback just because he got negative.

yeah, what cheeses me off is when the seller doesn't leave feedback when they get your money, or worse, when they actually state that they only leave feedback after getting feedback 'as policy to make sure everyone is happy'.

I have 130 feedbacks with 1 negative feedback. It was because a seller ripped me off and retaliated with a neg when thats what I gave him.
Sucks because I'll never have 100% again because of that ass.

Actually having read this - I think now it would be fun to go and buy a few cheap things and then give terrible feedback, just to spoil their smug 100% ratings - with no chance for any comeback - what a laugh!!

One account for buying, one for selling... be completely honest with your 'buying' account and don't worry about it. Negative feedback will hurt the seller MUCH more than it will hurt you.

That's immature and a dick move anyway you slice it.

I don't imagine people are smug about their rating. They are a simply a good buyer/seller that hasn't ripped off or been ripped off. Isn't this what we want and who we want to find for business?

Yep... smug isn't the word, those with 100% feedback and thousands of transactions should be PROUD of it. That's a lot of customer service and shows that they are responsive; running it the way a business should be run.

Same with me. 337 pos feedbacks w/ 1 neg. I didn't get what I paid for and left neg feedback. The Ahole retaliated w a neg for me.
