ebay offer

I summited an offer for an ebay item, which I out beat other people's offer. I never really expect my offer would come thru. So does that means I have to pay for it?

Of course! Why would you bid unless you wanted to buy it?

it's not a bid, it's one of those buy it now or a better offer thing.

You can either pay, or take the negative feedback.

What exactly did you win?

well , you could ask to mutually back out of the agreement .

Didn't you just lose your job???

I've done it for other people , last time it was a guy who bought my stingray and didn't realize it was a four string . He wanted a five.

I let him do it .

I have asked to bow out and it ended OK . I usually agreed to send some money to cover the part of the fees they could not recover . They never wanted the cash .

Same principle applies.

I payed for the item. I was asking since I've never "won" on an offer. It's usually not accepted, or a counter offer is given. So it got me confused. I didn't even check my account since what I offer for a brand new shuttle is lower than a used price.

The way Best Offer bids work is you submit your offer. The seller can then decline or accept the offer. If it's declined, the seller can counter your offer with another. Then it's up to you to accept the counter offer or decline it. Bottom line is that if you submit an offer and it's accepted or vice versa, you're obligated to buy the item just like a regular auction. If any offer is declined, then ho harm, no foul and you're on your merry way.

I bought something once on ebay-a combo amp. And right after winning the auction, my car broke down. I got an estimate and realized that I couldn't afford the amp and the car repair. So I contacted the guy and explained the situation. He was pissed-super pissed; and rightfully so. But I explained that I just couldn't pay and offered to reimburse him for listing fees plus like $20 for his time. He was super mad for a few days but finally he contacted me and agreed to my offer. I paid him for the listing plus $20 and gave him good feedback and he left positive feedback for me too.
If you want to back out and have a legit reason, people will usually work with you.
