EBAY Rating Etiquette?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had an EBAY account since 2005, but until yesterday, only had a rating of 2, having only bought a hat and an apron from the bay.

Last night I bought a couple things, shirts and such, but today, I bought three items from one seller (different listings).

I need some points since some people have refused to accept bids from me due to my lower score (from lack of purchases, not bad transactions), so:

The question I have is, is it unreasonable or against etiquette to ask the seller to rate me separately for each individual listing?

If he chooses to give you feedback, it'll be for each individual item anyways, since they're different listings. I say "if" because some people don't even bother giving feedback. You could always message them asking for it if you'd like...some sellers have an automatic system where you'll receive your feedback once you leave them some.

Generally speaking, I don't leave feedback until I receive my product.

Which is correct...I never suggested you do otherwise...

It used to be that sellers would hold off on leaving feedback in case buyers left them a negative...then the seller could retaliate with a negative. The new policies have made it such that sellers can only leave a positive...but some people still wait until they receive feedback from the buyer.

As well you shouldn't. I'd say wait until you receive the products, and are satisfied with them. Then leave the seller pos fdbks for each and all. Then send them an email saying "thanks for the great items, I have left you pos fdbk for all of it, and I'd be very grateful if you'd do the same."

You can get the feedback for each transaction, but I'm pretty sure you only get 1 point per user. So no matter how much you bought, if it's all from the same person, your rating will only go up 1 point.

Just what I was going say.

If you have had your bids refused because of a low feedback level, just try emailing people before bidding?

One more reason I don't use ebay except for the rare BIN item.
