Ebay vs. TB Classifieds

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm wanting to sell some gear. I'd like to get a good price for it and wonder if I'm better off ebaying it, or putting it up here.

Mind sharing the pros and cons you've found with either or both?

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking to get more than market value, this ain't the place. People here are generally more informed about current pricing and know their gear. That isn't to say that some people don't pimp their stuff like Jesus made it or that there isn't someone willing to pay more for the right bass....

Post your item(s) here and then, if you don't sell them, take your efforts over to eBay.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm not looking to get over on anyone. Just a good fair price -the type where we both feel good about it.

I like that idea wld3.

Times are slow here, unless you want to take a huge hit. Put it on Ebay. More potential buyers with more potential issues, but if you require they have good feedback you will get more money.

Sorry TalkBass, the classifieds stink right now unless you are trading.

I've been using TB, Craigslist and Bassgear.com... Between the 3 there is no reason to pay eBay fees even if you're item doesn't sell... eBay is a last resort, I think most of us here feel that way.

I paid my $20 here and have sold a bunch of mid-high ticket items so the savings on eBay fees have been tremendous.

Needless to say, TB is a wonderful place!

Unfortunately, pretty much all classified services are going slow right now.

You'll find better legitimate buyers and sellers here (and a better home).

There's also much more exotic used bass gear for sale here than anywhere else on the web.

Kinda what I was thinking eedre. I haven't sold anything on ebay since the feedback change and wonder if it's increased the number of people scamming sellers. I've been a member of a couple forums(motorcycles and guns) for years and know that they're often close knit. I've only been a member here for a short time, but it feels alot like the other forums. I've always had good feelings about buying and selling on forums with people that have been around for a while.

It's also nice to know you're selling to another enthusiast and you kinda get to follow how what you've sold is being used.
