The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Anyone getting ready for Skyrim this Friday? I got into the series with Oblivion and have been looking forward to this sequel for a long time. If I took all the time I spent on Oblivion and played bass instead, I would be a world class player.

Skyrim looks like it will redefine epic RPG, the title previously held by Oblivion. I honestly dont know how I am going to be able to show up for work for the rest of the year. Yeah... Im a dork like that. Dont make fun.

You owe it to yourself to play all the series. Starting at Oblivion just doesn't suffice IMO.

Oh man i dont know if i have the time for that. Do you think its possible to digress in the series yet still be impressed with the gameplay? I suspect once i get into skyrim, even oblivion will seem lame by comparison.

I need to hurry up and finish gears 3! Insane. Solo.

If you play the original, first game, be warned. It was buggy as all hell, but still a great game at it's base.

Sounds like you're confusing "gameplay" with "graphics". The stories have all been great, and gameplay has been consistent.

Man, I probably spent a good year and a half hopelessly addicted to Morrowind, hopefully Bethesda takes it back more into that direction than its dumbed down cousin Oblivion.

Morrowind was very special. I do not recall playing another RPG like it by anyone. Still, I have so many unplayed games lined up at this point that it will be some time before I would consider purchasing Elder Scrolls V and adding it to the waiting list. I haven't even gotten Fallout New Vegas yet.

I lived at a buddies house for 5months, broke as hell, no food. But he did have an xbox and morrowind. I played the crap out of that game. I bought it again recently. Maybe I'll play that while everyone plays the new one. haha.

I am so pumped. I just haven't decided if I'm going to get it for PC or for my PS3. It will probably run a bit better on my PS3, but the PC gives me access to the mod community.

Except for Morrowind, I've played all of the Elder Scrolls games, (never finished any of them, LOL, but enjoyed them nonetheless) and whenever I have the spare bucks, I'll likely get this one.

The question is - should I blow 1500 dollars on a TV and an x-box, sacrifice time with both my girlfriend and studies to play this? Strangely I'm much more tempted than I feel I should be.

I know the problems I had with Oblivion - The same 4 or 5 voice actors, used over, and over, and over ... The creepy looking NPC models, and I didn't particularly care for how they implemented the enemies scaling to your level.
What do you mean by "Oblivion this up"?
