So last Friday, I got an e-mail from one of the partners at the firm I left at the end of the year, saying that an architectural school in town needed a geology teacher ... starting Monday! (today). So I got on the phone, gave them a call, e-mailed a list of some of my qualifications, and taught the first class today. It's going to be a lot of fun, and it'll get me out of the house a few extra hours a week. It'd keep me in beer money (if I drank beer), but you never know what may pop up.

Nice. My current geology teacher is also a guy that used to be in industry, really knows his stuff. Make sure that prepare well, nothing worse than having a prof show not prepared.

I'm liking Holy Schist, I think it could be a winner, if not for a name then certainly a catchphrase.

ROFL, that's what the Dean was wearing when I met him this morning. I wore my navy blue blazer, which is the business equivalent of that cliche. I'll be wearing my leather jacket in the future.

Indi was an archaeologist, though I suppose Munji could go on a fantastic journey trying to stop the Nazis getting their hands on a particularly interesting geode or something. As long as he stays away from nuclear devices and fridges of course.

I did about three hours of prep for my 1.5 hour class. I had to re-learn everything I learned 35 years ago. I ended the class with five minutes to spare, and let 'em go. Students love that.

That reminds me of the episode of The Simpsons where Homer sews tweed patches on a leather jacket when he becomes a teacher.

Sounds good. Are you doing labs or lectures?
